Colston Street, Bristol

Extension and alteration of a listed timber frame building in the centre of Bristol.
Client Ben and Erica DuBuisson
Location Bristol
Status Completed June 2000

The clients wanted to extend their central Bristol family home –  a narrow timber-framed listed building with parts dating back to the late 17th century.

Colston Street - Carbon Willmore Iles Architects

So we extended the rear of the house to provide additional kitchen and living space over two storeys and also a first floor terrace.

As site access was poor we used a timber frame construction. This also meant the clients, who stayed in the house throughout the works, benefited from reduced programme.
