Robeson House provides the London School of Economics with 676 bedrooms within a mix of cluster flats and studio accommodation.
Completed in summer 2025 ,this new 16-story building is located in Southwark and is part of the Old Kent Road Masterplan. The building features a design that steps back and rises from Glengall Road, connecting to the broader masterplan while providing roof terraces that overlook Burgess Park to the west.
We were engaged by Equans after planning approval in 2020 to finalise the design and ensure compliance and to oversee the completion of the consented scheme. The building incorporates precast concrete sandwich panel construction, allowing for the installation of structural elements, external walls, and windows without the need for scaffolding.
The lower floor spaces were designed in collaboration with Jasper Sanders + Partners to provide high-quality communal facilities, including study and social areas, a movie room, a gym, courtyard gardens, a launderette, and a communal dining room.
Located at the intersection of Glengall Road and Bianca Road, the project enhances the public realm with hard and soft landscaping by The Landmark Practice, which includes the introduction of significant planting and trees along Bianca Road.
Additionally, the scheme offers the London School of Economics spaces for their Generate team, as well as room for a public café and office space. The development also restores the commercial floorspace of the previously occupied Bianca Warehouses.
