Melika Dastyar

Part I Architectural Assistant

I joined Willmore Iles Architects in May 2026 after completing my undergraduate course in Architecture at UWE Bristol. I’m now delighted to be joining Willmore Iles, and excited to begin this next chapter with the team.

Background:

Before my undergraduate course at UWE, I attended an art college where I tried a range of subjects, including graphic design, fashion design, sculpture, music, painting, and architecture. In 2019, I started my BSc Architecture with a Foundation year at UWE, where I was also a member of the Built Environment Society. Through this, I took part in designing a Passivhaus workshop space for students, assisting with early design stages and researching wall material choices based on sustainability, embodied, and operational carbon. I’ve also attended university lectures on building performance and completed a Zero Carbon Aware course.

Professional Interests:

I’m particularly passionate about residential architecture, where thoughtful design can shape how people experience everyday life — creating homes that feel comfortable, uplifting, and well-connected to light and space. Even small decisions matter; a well-placed window can transform a home’s atmosphere. I’m equally interested in detailing and construction, translating ideas from concept into buildable solutions, and in sustainable design — using careful planning, material choices, and digital tools to improve performance and long-term value.

And in the rest of life…

I love new experiences and discovering new places, equally inspired by nature and by exploring historic buildings and cities. I enjoy photography, capturing nature, architecture, and everyday moments, along with painting, ceramics, and candle-making in my free time. Travelling, visiting exhibitions, and spending time outdoors round out my interests, and while I try to live a healthy, balanced lifestyle, good food (and ice cream) usually wins!
