Simon Baker

Associate Director

I am an Associate Director at Willmore Iles, with an excellent record of delivering high quality projects from inception to completion. I am experienced in commercial architecture and have worked within several sectors including Student Residential, Residential, Retail, and Education.

Over the last ten years I have delivered several purpose-built student accommodation schemes. And more recently, been involved in high end residential projects in the South West.

As part of my Associate Director role I take a lead on our business development strategy to ensure we maintain a sustainable business.

Originally from Cardiff, I moved to Bristol several years ago whilst working for a large commercial practice. I moved to Willmore Iles in search of new challenges and an opportunity to gain expert knowledge of specific market sectors. I can honestly say it’s been some of the most rewarding years of my career.

I also spent a few years as an Associate Tutor at the Plymouth School of Architecture, helping students investigate the importance of user experience through design. This sparked my interest in architectural solutions that enhance everyday activities and promote interaction.

Professional Interests:

I have a particular interest in concept design and early stage dialogue with clients, to establish their project goals and aspirations and the successful implementation of projects when these aspirations come to life. I like nothing more than helping a client solve a problem, even before they know they have one!

I am also a member of our in-house BIM committee and I take an active role in the practice’s implementation and training of Revit and 3D modelling.

And in the rest of life …

When I’m not spending time with my young family, I love nothing more than a day out on my motorbike.
